1. Cardinal Health in Dublin
Ranked No. 15 on the 2022 list of Fortune 500 companies, this health care company specializes in the distribution of medical products serving more than 100,000 locations. And it continues to look toward innovation, as seen with the recent partnership with startup Zipline, which delivers products through autonomous aircraft to pharmacies.
2. Marathon Petroleum in Findlay
Marathon Petroleum Corporate is a leading, integrated, downstream energy company that ranks 19 on the list Fortune 500 companies list. It operates the nation's largest refining system and operates Marathon brand retail outlets. Its Northwest Ohio headquarters has a prominent presence in the state and is a major contributor to the community.
3. Kroger in Cincinnati
There’s no better-known grocery in Ohio than Kroger. The Kroger company is one of the largest retailers in the United States and is No. 21 on the Fortune 500 list. It operates 2,750 grocery retail stores and had a 113% increase in e-commerce sales for 2021.
4. Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati
Known for its household and personal products, P&G comes in at No. 47. Its products include staples such as Tide, Gillette, Crest, Bounty, Gain, Old Spice, which are trusted in millions of homes. and more. The company believes in finding small but meaningful ways to improve lives – now and for generations to come.
5. Progressive in Mayfield
Go with the Flo with the U.S.’s third-largest auto insurance carrier. Ranked No. 79, it reported an 11% year-over-year revenue increase in 2021. This Northeast Ohio headquartered company works every day looking at everything through the lens of “how can we make this better?”
6. Nationwide in Columbus
Founded in 1926, Nationwide is No. 80 on the list. Columbus has been home to Nationwide Insurance from the beginning. Its corporate headquarters comprise five downtown buildings. Nationwide continues to invest in financial and insurance startups as well expand its eco-friendly portfolio.
7. Cleveland-Cliffs in Cleveland
The largest flat-rolled steel company in North America is in Northeast Ohio. The No. 171 Fortune 500-ranked company is also a self-sufficient enterprise through its raw material extraction, manufacturing, and tooling.
8. Sherwin-Williams in Cleveland
Ohio-based Sherwin-Williams adds color to the Fortune 500 list and comes in at No. 175. After opening its first factory in 1873, the company became officially incorporated in July 1884. And for more than 75 years, it has been headquartered in Cleveland's Midland Building.
9. Goodyear Tire & Rubber in Akron
Hit the road with Goodyear, one of the top four tire manufacturers in the world. Founded in 1898, the No. 209 ranked company is always looking at ways to improve and innovate customers’ driving experience.
10. American Electric Power in Columbus
As one of the U.S.’s largest energy companies, AEP powers numerous other companies throughout the state and beyond. Ranked No. 219 and one of the largest investor-owned utilities, it serves almost 5.5 million customers.
